Can you believe it’s almost Thanksgiving?!? Here’s our roundup of Thanksgiving-oriented happenings around town this year.

EATS

Bubba’s Bistro

Starting November 22, 2016, from 11am-9pm, we’ll be serving Turkey Dinner for $17.95 per person Complete meal includes sliced turkey breast and sliced BBQ beef brisket, gravy, apple chutney & 2 side dishes of your choice (corn bread stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potato mash, creamed corn or collard greens) You can also order sides: grilled corn on the cob, $4; macaroni & cheese or dirty rice, $5; soup of the day $5—choice of French onion, roasted tomatoes or she crab. Add a slice of country apple pie or pumpkin pie for $3. 31-13 A Ditmars Blvd.

Bubba’s also provides catering for the big day. For $100 + tax you get:

  • 14 lb Herb-Roasted Turkey
  • Herb and Apple Stuffing
  • Sweet Potato Mash or Mash potato
  • Tossed or Caesar salad
  • Mélange of Fresh Fall Vegetables
  • Giblet Gravy and Cranberry sauce
  • Corn Bread
  • Home made Country Pumpkin or Apple pie (add $16.00)

Flo

Flo is open this Thanksgiving starting at 10am with our $18.95 brunch prix fixe menu (includes coffee/tea. one brunch cocktail and brunch entree). At 4pm our complete menu becomes available for dinner. Kitchen closes at 1am and the bar at 2am. We will also be serving a turkey plate special all day. 37-20 30th Avenue

Gastroteca

We’re offering a $39.95 dine-in prix-fixe option plus our regular a la carte menu for those who turn their nose at the bird. The prix-fixe includes:

First Course, choice of:

    • Butternut Squash Soup with nutmeg & black pepper
    • Bulgur Salad with dates, almonds, pomegranate, olives, onions & pistachio
    • Grandma’s Meatballs with lemon, tzatziki & grilled pita

Second Course, choice of:

  • Roasted Turkey with mashed potato, string beans, gravy, Greek sausage stuffing with sour cherries & sage
  • Grilled Branzino with fingerling potatoes, cherry tomatoes, garlic & olives

We will be open Thursday, November 24 from 3-9pm with an a la carte menu. Seasonal appetizers include Butternut Squash Soup, Spiced Apple & Mixed Greens Salad; entrees include Cioppino, Roasted Free Range Turkey Roulade; sides include Crispy Brussels Sprouts, Focaccia Stuffing, and Roasted Garlic Mashed Potatoes. 21-02 30th Avenue

They are also offering a “Thanksgiving to go” menu. It serves 8-10 people and costs $160:

  • Whole boneless free range turkey with Turkey jus
  • Crispy Brussels sprouts with grana padano, Roasted garlic mashed potatoes, Cauliflower and mushrooms
  • Roasted grape and cranberry focaccia stuffing
  • Cranberry sauce
  • Sliced sandwich bread
  • Dessert add-on +$25: Baby Jesus cake with toffee sauce and whipped cream (serves 12)

Order by November 18 for pickup Thanksgiving Day, November 24, between 11am and 2pm.

Woodside Sunnyside Runners

We’ll meet at 10am Thanksgiving morning for a 3-ish mile light run in the hood(s). This is not a race! Just our usual casual run, to burn a few calories before the day gets going. This will be a very casual pace run – in other words, all are welcome to participate, and nobody will be left behind. We may wait up to 10 minutes to allow for late-arrivals.
