Fashion on Wheels: Bohemian Groove Airstream Boutique!

Queens native Brittany Reilly has combined a flair for fashion and a brain for business to create one of the most charming boutiques in the biz: Bohemian Groove. Rather than opening a brick and mortar fashion shop, Brittany decided to take her merchandise on the road, and is operating out of a vintage 1972 airstream.

The launch party is taking place Friday, May 27th from 4:30pm-9:00pm at The Local, and will feature happy hour drink prices, a DJ spinning tunes, and a chance to be the first in the neighborhood to discover some new styles.

Brittany started the business, along with her boyfriend Jonathan Medina, after graduating from LIM Fashion College and bouncing around between various jobs in the fashion world. Opening a boutique was never really her end game, since operating a standalone shop seemed to limit her possibilities to stay on the move, but when she got the idea to create a mobile business, it was ON. However, after looking at huge, expensive box trucks that weren’t practical, it was Jonathan’s idea to go the airstream route. When they found an affordable 1972 Airstream in need of LOTS of TLC, they had the necessary work done and Bohemian Groove was born.

As for the goods, they’ll be carrying women’s clothing, jewelry, accessories, leather goods, beach apparel, festival apparel, and shoes. They’ll be including unique hand selected brands from all over the world. Some locales including Bali, Greece, Colombia, California, and, of course, New York!

As for style, Bohemian Groove aims to cater to special type of lady. When describing their audience, Brittany says, “Bohemian Groove is for the explorer, adventuress, and the badass. Our girl is unique and knows what she likes. She is feminine, creative and a little rough around the edges. We are never conformed by society and cater to the wanderlust/bohemian lifestyle.” Sounds like a lot of Astorians!

Where can you find Bohemian Groove after the launch party? On the road, of course! The airstream will be traveling throughout the tri-state area: Montauk and the Hamptons, Greenwich, CT for polo matches, Asbury Park boardwalk, Rockaway Beach, and right here at home at the LIC Flea. Road trips are in the works for destinations like Chicago for Lollapoloza and Austin, Texas for ACL Music Festival.
