Vite_Signage In the midst of a cold winter, the crew and I headed over to Vite for warmth, wine, and a smorgasbord of heavy winter dishes. Now that summer is here, we came back to enjoy the warm sunshine, wine, and a smorgasbord of new summer menu items (along with some classic favorites). We were served twelve different dishes, drinks, and desserts. Check out these five highlights from our tasting. Once again we give major props to food photographer extraordinaire, Marielle Solan for capturing these delish dishes.

Vite_Summer CocktailFirst up, an Aperol Spritz made with orange liquor, champagne, and a splash of club soda. It’s sweet, bubbly, and was quite enjoyable to sip sitting outside at Vite’s sidewalk cafe.

Vite_Salmon TartareIsn’t this salmon tartare with guacamole stuffing beautiful? The fish was super fresh with a pinch of saltiness and the guacamole had a mild kick. Pretty to look at, easy to eat.

Vite_Cod and Polenta The Baccala Mantecato is made with whipped cod fish over fried polenta. Don’t shy away from the idea of whipped fish, it’s light, flavorful and has an airy texture. We had this during our first tasting, it was good then, and it still hits the spot now.

Vite_Squid InkI think it’s important to highlight the pastas at Vite. They are homemade and remind me perfectly of the pastas my Italian Grandma used to make; slightly springy with a touch of salinity.  The squid ink pasta with seafood was a solid option.

Vite_Mint Chocolate chipDo you like Thin Mints? If your answer is “yes” then this is the dessert for you! Mint ice cream, crunchy pistachio with a little chocolate ganache square sitting atop. Technically Thin Mints aren’t my favorite Girl Scout Cookie (I’m a sucker for the Peanut Butter patties), but I really enjoyed this dessert.

Vite_Outdoor CafeThe sidewalk cafe is open and a full summer menu is yours for the eating!
