Always one of our favorite signs that summer is near—the return of the greenmarket at Socrates Sculpture Park. Look for it the first time in 2015 on Saturday, June 6 and it will happen every Saturday until November 21, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Here are some of the vendors expected to participate this year—lots of familiar names:

  • Artisan Oven Central Bakery—Breads and baked goods from Bergen County, New
  • Ballard’s Honey—Honey from Delaware County, New York
  • El Poblano Farm—Vegetables and specialized Mexican herbs and vegetables from one of the last remaining farms in the city of New York, in Richmond County
  • Goodale Farms—Vegetables and dairy from Suffolk County, New York
  • Millport Dairy—Cheddar cheese, beef, pickles and baked goods from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania
  • Red Jacket Orchard—Orchard fruit and juice from Ontario County, New York

Drop off composting will also be available again at the greenmarket this year, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., courtesy of BIG!NYC.

While you’re at the greenmarket, head over to the amazing pyramid by Agnes Denes that has taken up residence at Socrates. In addition, there’s free yoga in the park, and June 6 is also the third annual NW Queens Food Day, featuring cooking demonstrations, information from civic organizations, and more, coming together “to raise awareness, and collectively build a more just and sustainable food landscape from the ground up.” And stick around for the LIC Bike Parade, too!

Basically, this is a day of awesome. See you then!
