Astor Bake Shop Hosts Guest Chef Dinners

astor-bake-shop-guest-chef-dinnerWe recently learned of delicious news by way of Astor Bake Shop, which brings some exciting culinary prowess to the neighborhood.  Starting next month, they’ll be rolling out a guest chef dinner series with acclaimed culinary talent from the neighboring area and beyond.  The first guest chef dinner takes place on March 22nd and features Delmonico’s Steakhouse Chef, James Canora.  For those of you who haven’t had the pleasure to try Delmonico’s which stands as one of the oldest running restaurants in NYC, you’re in for a treat.  Delmonico’s is where quintessential foods such as eggs Benedict and Delmonico steak were born!  Here are the details:

March 22nd: 2 seatings: 6 p.m., 8 p.m.

Sample Menu:

Wine: Start off with a complementary glass of house red or white wine. In addition we will be offering a specially selected choice of wines by the glass or bottle to complement your dinner.

1st Course: Lobster Newburg bisque with bay scallops, tiny shrimp & paddlefish roe, brioche toast batons & tarragon crème fraiche

2nd Course: Crisp Maryland crab cake with grilled fruit relish, alligator pear mousse & cilantro lime aioli

Main Course: Black angus grass-fed Delmonico Steak with classic creamed spinach & three potato gratin, Delmonico steak sauce on the side

For the table: Horseradish croquettes & grilled asparagus (or caramelized brussels sprouts)

Dessert Course: Warm almond financier with caramel & chocolate sauces, almond brittle & gelato

4 Course pre- fixe menu $75 exclusive of beverage, tax & tip

There’s no info on how to book. I assume you need to book ahead and possibly pre-pay. I will check in with Astor Bake Shop as well.
