I walked by Mokja, a new Korean restaurant opening up on Broadway, and saw that a lot of progress has happened since the summer. There are tables, benches, and chairs up front, and a bar in the back. Here’s a shot of the interior:

According to their Facebook page, they hope to open around November 15. They will offer both traditional Korean food, “as well as some innovative appetizers and sandwiches.” One thing I looked for was any room/insert in the tables for Korean barbecue, so I am dubious that this will be included, unless there is some kind of contraption that sits atop the table.

Overall, the place looks nice and I think this will be significant for Astoria to have an modern Korean restaurant. Seoul Fusion Eatery is nice for casual dining or takeout, and I am fond of their kimchi, but their location and ambiance leave something to be desired. Here’s hoping Mokja can hit that sweet spot of delicious food + quality service + central location.
