In case you missed the news: Ditmars Station Pub has closed (located below the Ditmars stop). There’s been a lot of speculation, especially regarding Sweet Spot taking away their business. We tried to stop in a few weeks ago to watch one of the last Yankee games of the season and were told that there was a “gas issue” and that Con Ed was “on it,” so the kitchen was closed. The bar remained an option, but still—we were hungry and guess what we did? Went over to Sweet Spot and had a decent time.

I noticed they’ve put the place up on Craigslst, too: “Beautiful Bar Pub in Trendy area of Astoria, Queens. Located at Subway Stop. Turn Key Operation! Full kitchen, pizza ovens, full basement. New Ten year lease. Listed at $240,000 MAKE SERIOUS OFFER!”

I remember when I first moved in the place was an OK Cypriot restaurant. Then it turned into a place called YOLO, and then Ditmars Station. Maybe it will remain a bar, maybe not. What do you think will happen to the place? And it seems now that the incoming Ditmars Station Bagels shop across the street won’t be subject to any confusion with the now shuttered pub, as we had suggested before.

In my heart, this place will always be Zygo’s. It was like eating a fantastic meal in your crazy aunt’s garage.

No idea they had food. I would’ve gone there. There was never mention of food outside the bar was there?
