It’s finally feeling like summer ya’ll, which means hot (and sometime sticky) nights that warrant summer-time eats and drinks.  What are you most looking forward to trying this summer?

In the true spirit of summer, we see that the Queens County Market is returning at the end of June, this time at the Sunnyside Greenmarket.  We couldn’t think of a more perfect setting for this artisanal food goodness!  June 28th, 10:00 a.m. – 3 p.m. Skillman Avenue & 43rd Street.

Wells’ fresh oysters and more.  See a quick foodie recap through our Instagram feed.

Omonia Cafe Dessert

Omonia Cafe Dessert

One of the most “Astoria” things you can do in the summer is sit outside in one of our sidewalk cafes, eat amazing Greek-style dessert, sip a frappe and people watch.  Well I did just that recently at Astoria’s quintessential Greek cafe, Omonia and really loved their chocolate Napoleon and a gluten free walnut, raspberry cookie.  32-20 Broadway, Astoria. 718.274.6650

Practically across the street from Omonia is the new Pye Boat Noodle Thai restaurant, which specializes in, you guessed it, dry or soup noodle dishes and it’s delicious.  I recently had the pleasure to visit with a few friends and really loved the above pictured fried pork strips that are crispy as can be on the outside and chewy on the inside.  They make for a perfect dinner snack!  35-13 Broadway, Astoria. 718.685.2329

With the start of summer and warmer temps, we tend to crave something cold and refreshing like ice cream.  Check out the new Sweet Jane’s ice cream shop Meg visited last weekend.  I must say that this Kitchen Sink flavor (pictured above) looks mighty inviting and seems to be the customer favorite so far.  27-17 24th Avenue, Astoria. 347.507.0456
