We learned yesterday that the Steinway Mansion, on the market for a number of years, was sold to Steinway Mansion L.L.C. for $2.6 million, according to the Times Ledger. Last year the price was lowered to $1.9 million. The news of the sale was first announced on the Friends of Steinway Mansion twitter feed.

There hasn’t been much information about the buyers released, though the NY Daily News says they are “two mysterious Astoria-raised investors.” Apparently no one in the know is releasing the names. This is an important detail:

The unnamed owners pledged to preserve the landmarked house but may eye part of its sprawling grounds for development, officials say.

Costa Constantinides says the new owners are “born and raised in Astoria” and “They want to keep this part of the fabric of the neighborhood. We are going to be working very hard with them.”

We did a search on “Steinway Mansion LLC” and came up with this link, but not much else. The address in the listing leads to a mortgage broker, Amerimutual Mortgage.

We’ll update you with more information as we have it.
