While walking to meet up with Judith for a delicious dinner at Crescent Grill (more on that later), I passed by a new restaurant still papered up called Nosh Borough.

This space used to be home to The Lunch Box, a little comfort food restaurant active back in 2011. It has crossed my mind that this place might be the same people just rebranding themselves, but that is conjecture; we’ve reached out to the folks behind Nosh Borough for more info. That said, they are also going the route of comfort food:

We are a no fuss casual restaurant, a place for dining in or delivery. We will be serving comfort food featuring our in house roasted and smoked meats. Our menu offerings will be seasonal and made from scratch for your pleasure.

Their menu is pretty meaty, serving various kinds of roast meats (chicken, pork belly, brisket). They offer something called a “wafco” which is a “waffle taco”—it looks like a hard taco shell but it’s made from a thin waffle and filled with the abovementioned meats. Pot pies, burgers (including the intriguing sounding Bahn Mi Burger), biscuits and gravy, and fish and chips round out the meat offerings. Many of the sides also contain meat of some kind.

For the vegetarian side of the table, the Kale and Butternut Squash Salad sounds pretty tasty—roasted butternut squash, apples, picked red onions, toasted pumpkin seeds, faro, Parmesan cheese, raisins with lemon-honey vinaigrette. Their vegetable tamales also sound tasty—masa with potatoes, poblano and guajillo peppers, mushrooms, and onions served with crema and picodejallo.

Here are some photos of the food:

We’re curious to learn when they’ll be open; we’ll pass that info on when we get it.

I want to also make a comment that these two who own and operate this little place is really modest but they both worked at very well known hotels & restaurants down in the city. Ie. Plaza Athenee, Danube David Bouley, Alto, Restaurant RM, La Caravelle, The London Hotel: Maze by Gordon Ramsey, etc. just to name a few.

So these two can absolutely amaze you.
