Must Attend Events- Astoria Art Festival

The Astoria Art Festival begins Friday, Sept. 27th. These are the must-attend events happening around Astoria this weekend.

AstoriaArtFestivalOpening

The 2nd Annual Astoria Art festival kicks off on Friday, September 27th at 9 pm at Hell Gate Social (12-21 Astoria Blvd). Live music from local legends The Ten Cent F%^$ Flicks starts at 10:30 pm. Art will be exhibited by Haydee Naula, Michelle Witchipoo, Joe Kavitski and Dark Mass.

The party will continue at midnight at the Sparrow Tavern (24-01 29th street). DJ Frankie Pancakes will have the crowd dancing as they check out the Instagram photo exhibit.

On Saturday, September 28th, Impossible Project, We Heart Astoria, Singlecut Beersmiths and Gooey Co. have sponsored an afternoon of interactive art at Lockwood (32-15 33rd street). AJ Andrews will be creating a photograph collage with the new Impossible Project Instant Lab camera. The event starts at 4 pm and ends at 8 pm.

Sunday, September 29th, at 4 pm stop by Mars (3421 34th ave) to preview the paintings of Clemens Kois and listen to the DJ Wet Magic Shave while enjoying some oysters and specialty cocktails.

At 8 pm wander up the street to enjoy the art of Caitlin Allen at Queens Kickshaw (40-17 Broadway) and listen to the music of Earlybird Stringband, a Norwegian bluegrass band.

The events continue on Tuesday, October 1st as Queens Comfort (4009 30th avenue) hosts the opening of Bradley Hawks photography Plates on Plates. Stop by for dinner, free donuts and the DJ.

The Astoria Art Festival closing events start of with a group photo show on Friday October 4th at Olde Prague (28-48 31st Street) and the live music of The Back Burners.

Maryann Benedetto will be showcasing her art at Singlecut Brewery (19-33 37th street) on Saturday, October 5th. LIGHT/SPEED is a solo exhibition of photography and live visuals by Mary Ann Benedetto as part of the Astoria Art Festival. Opening starts at 7 pm.

The last event will be Sunday, October 6th at 3 pm at the Astoria Park Wine and Spirits with an exhibit of the newest photography from Adrienne Darnell. The shop will be doing a wine tasting from 3 pm – 6 pm. 28-07 24th avenue.
