As you’ve probably noticed through our social media activity, Meg, Mackenzi and I stopped at the brand new Mar’s Oyster Bar last night, which is still in its soft opening.

Mar's oyster barThe inside looks great and has that speakeasy, nostalgic vibe, with marble counters, wood paneling, serious looking barmen in bowties :) The works!  We heart its old fashioned feel and the homage it pays to old Astoria, yet it appeals to all ages.  Even though their kitchen isn’t fully open at this time, they have a rich offering of fresh oysters that looked great.  In fact, we were impressed with them so much that we interviewed one of their staff members to give us more insight about the bivalves and about Mar’s in general.  You convinced to come out and try it yet?

Isn’t this on 35th Street? I pass by a new place called Mars there every day. In the spot where Taverna Sophia used to be?
