Finally Fridays – Bacon Part Deux

It was just last year that we dedicated a whole post to bodacious bacon goodness, and this year, we’re back at it.  Since we’ve posted our last bacon entry, there’s definitely been some additional porky newcomers on the scene that we thought you should know about.

Alobar – Although they have many things on the menu that contain this magical ingredient, the best one by far is their signature maple bacon popcorn, made with chunky slices of caramelized pork belly and sweet honey.  Fortunately, you can’t just have one handful.  46-42 Vernon Blvd, LIC.  718.752.6000

Butcher Bar –  We totally heart this BBQ haven and butcher store rolled into one.  You can indulge in many pork combinations but if you’re looking for that quality bacon, they serve a 1/4 lb of smoked pork belly as a side.  Enjoy it with a helping of their creamy mac ‘n cheese.  37-08 30th Avenue, Astoria.  718.606.8140

Queens Comfort – Not messing around when it comes to bacon, they have it all over the menu during lunch, brunch and dinner.  Whether embedded in a rich mac ‘n cheese with scallions, a “billionaires” salad that features brown sugar bacon, a fried chicken sandwich or their whimsical “Eggs McRuffin” (pictured above), you’ll know you’ve arrived in bacon heaven.  40-09 30th Avenue, Astoria.  718.728.2350

Malu – LIC is the place to find bacon in dessert form and we’ve often times seen it debut on Malu’s menu of ice cream.  While they won’t necessarily carry Maple Bacon ice cream every day, do check with them periodically on Facebook to see when it’s back.  Or maybe you can even make a special request for it – Malu’s owners would like to know!   12-09 Jackson Avenue, LIC.  718.729.6258

Make your own bacon dish – It’s no secret that I adore me some bacon and have experimented with it quite a bit.  Here are some of my bacon highlights that I encourage you to try at home.  I wish I could choose a favorite, but I like them all!

Creative. Thanks for writing that. I will return here to find out more and tell my coworkers about your writing.
