This weekend was a big one for the Astoria culinary scene, as we got our first specialty cheese and beer shop.  The brainchild of the next door Astoria Wine & Spirits, this new bier & cheese sibling is just what the community needed, as we saw lots of folks this weekend, eager to check out the soft opening.  In my opinion, it was quite a hit, as their shelves were fully stocked with some of the most interesting craft beers (some of which I’ve never seen!) specialty cheeses from all parts of the country as well as interesting jarred and pickled goodies.  Just take a look through our photo tour here, and even better…see for yourself this week!

26 month aged Gouda  has a lovely golden color.

Full stocked shelves with everything from cans of Porkslap Pale Ale to bottles of  Ommegang Abbey Ale.

So many types of feta…how does one choose?!

My favorite aspect of this shop isn’t necessarily the cheese, it’s all the pickled goodies such as beets, carrots, pickles of course and more!

Really nice to see that folks have a place to sit, be social and enjoy the craft beers and specialty cheeses.

We hope we’ve enticed you a bit to explore more, as they’ll be open all week from 11 a.m. – 11 p.m.
