Happy Friday! Over on twitter it’s #FF – Follow Fridays. We thought we’d introduce you to some new twitter accounts today for you to follow, too.
@QNSLUV Queens Love is a collaboration of people living in Queens, here to show you the things we love (mostly food).
This merry band of Queens residents – many of them reside in Astoria/LIC – run the Queens Love tumblr, singing their praises of Queens sights, sounds, and tastes (especially tastes). Stop by and see the photographs, food reviews, and more. It’s very cool and I love the tumblr format (disclaimer: I am a contributor to this site). I’ve also learned a number of things about and discovered a number of places in Queens that I did not know before.
@maxfalkowitz Spice hound. Ice cream maker. Unrepentant sciencefictionalist. Editor of Serious Eats NY.
Astorian Max Falkowitz tweets primarily about food – recently he got back from Singapore and is lamenting the dearth of great Malaysian food in NYC (if you know where the good Malaysian food is, we are all ears). And yes, he is the editor of Serious Eats NY, truly one of my favorite food sites online.
@i_prefer_not_to Lover of food, cooking, and humor. Also known to occasionally break out into song.
Tina Corrado has been a resident of Astoria for at least a decade and has seen a lot go on in the neighborhood over the years. Online, she is the creative force behind Tina’s Nom Noms, a wonderful food blog with pictures that will make you drool. Most recently, Tina shared with me her love of chilaquiles, which simply rules. And yes, you can get some tasty ones right here in Astoria.
@CitySpoonful In-depth reporting on all things food-related in NYC, especially the outer boroughs. The brainchild of Anne Noyes Saini and Clare Trapasso.
This twitter account is managed by Anne Noyes Saini, one of the founders of City Spoonful, and she is always up on the latest food news in Queens. I love getting tips from her, as they are always helpful and intriguing. Anne is a big Queens food booster, and you’ll find her pounding the pavement for tacos and other Mexican specialities these days (look for her guest post here at WHA on this topic soon!).
@QueensNYCity Bringing you the best in places to live, things to do, and where to eat in Queens, NYC.
This is the new kid on the block. On QueensNYC.com, they focus on the whole borough of Queens, but with lots of current content having to do with Astoria and LIC. Here you’ll find stories on real estate, culture, arts, recreation, and of course, food (disclaimer: I am a food writer for this site). Stop by and check it out!
And apart from our time spent here on We Heart Astoria (which is, of course @weheartastoria on twitter), you can find the ladies of WHA at @Fooditka (Judith), @SITEnews (Mackenzi) and me, @harmoniousbelly. If there are any Astoria twitter accounts we should follow, please let us know in the comments. Have a great weekend, everyone!
