Summery weather is back this weekend with warm days and the occasional thunderstorm. If you start to feel a little too warm, give our cool drinks in Astoria and LIC article a look for inspiration. And remember, Waltz-Astoria’s Watermelon Icy is always a terrific option.

On Friday night, stop by Astoria Park Wine & Spirits from 6-8:30pm for a free tasting – yes, that means free wine! They are featuring a Premier Cru Burgundy, a super affordable Syrah, and a Macon Villages Chardonnay. I hear they have Pimm’s in stock, ready for you to make your annual summery Pimm’s Cup. They’ll also have some new scotches and a 12 year rum. Both the Beer Garden and Sparrow are nearby, so  you can make a night of it. Astoria Park Wine & Spirits, 28-07 24th Ave, Astoria; 718.606.1142

On Saturday, the LIC Bike Parade returns! Socrates Sculpture Park is the location for workshops from 11am-3pm, including bike repairs with Recycle-A-Bicycle, free helmets and fittings with the Department of Transportation, decorating helmets with artists from Socrates, education workshops with Velo-City; and giveaways; it’s also the starting point for the parade down Vernon Blvd. at 3pm (leaving at the Broadway entrance); then there is a waterfront celebration from 3-6pm at Queensbridge Park. This is a terrific event for families. Socrates Sculpture Park, 32-05 Vernon Blvd., Astoria; Queensbridge Park, 41-05 Vernon Blvd., Long Island City
