Saturday is a walk in the park… literally! At 11am on Saturday morning, meet at the corner of 19th Street and Ditmars for the start of a walking tour of Astoria Park and Pool. On the tour, led by the Greater Astoria Historical Society, with the help of members of Green Shores and the Astoria Park Alliance, you’ll learn a lot about the history of the area, the nearby mansions (that keep getting destroyed for new housing), the Hell Gate itself, the two bridges that share the park, Astoria Pool, and the natural elements of the park, including the butterfly garden, trees, and wildlife. Come in comfortable, sturdy shoes and bring water with you. Call for reservations 718-278-0700 $15 ($10 for GAHS, Astoria Park Alliance and Greenshore members). The tour lasts 3 hours.
