This weekend there’s such a diverse selection of events happening around town from Valentine’s Day pop ups to artful science chats about climate change. Without further ado- What To Do This Weekend!
Friday, get your weekend started with some great new art in LIC. SPACEWOMb (22-48 Jackson Ave., LIC) is hosting a reception for their latest installation, a collection of works by Japanese artists called Midnight. The opening kicks off at 6pm.
If wine tastings are more your thing, Astoria Park Wine & Spirits (28-07 24th Ave., Astoria) is hosting a prominent Greek winemaker, Stellios Boutaris, from 6-8:30pm. Meet the winemaker as you taste his favorite wines.
Astoria Performing Arts Center (APAC) has a new show opening Friday night. The show, Love Trapezoid, is a musical comedy that examines art, technology, and everything we use to grieve the loss of someone that we love. The show is just $10 and plays at Good Shepherd United Methodist Church (30-44 Crescent St., Astoria).
Get your Valentine’s on early; there’s a host of great pop-ups and events happening this weekend to get you ready for the big day of love. In LIC Saturday & Sunday, check out Matted’s pop-up (46-36 Vernon Blvd., LIC) happening from 12-6pm daily. Find vintage valentines, gourmet chocolates, and handcrafted jewelry from local artists. We hear there’s even a free gift with purchase. Sunday, don’t miss the Food Artisan Market at The Queens Kickshaw (40-17 Broadway, Astoria) from 9-12:30. Sunday, the Noguchi Museum (9-01 33rd Rd., Astoria) is hosting a discussion on creative ideas for solving climate change. This fascinating program mixes artists and scientists and is hosted by playwright Jeremy Pickard. Partnering for the Climate: An Artist/Scientist Mixer, 12 – 3:00pm. WHA tip: tell your city friends to join you! Sundays only Noguchi runs a shuttle bus from Catch the northeast corner of Park Avenue and 70th Street.
