For a lot of us, this weekend is a long one, which is just awesome.  And the weather may cooperate too, making this the perfect opportunity to be up and about and enjoying Astoria, whether through restaurants, special events, movies or shopping.  The choice is yours…

This entire weekend, indulge in the gluttony of Porkfest at the Bohemian Hall and Beer Garden.  This porky celebration starts tomorrow at 5 p.m. and will last all through Sunday.  You can order off a special menu filled with amazing Eastern European pork delicacies – and if you choose to bring food back, they have a special menu just for that.  Bohemian Hall & Beer Garden (29-19 24th Avenue, Astoria.  718.274.4925)

If you’d like to work off that pork, pay a visit to Simply Fit Astoria for their active classes this weekend.  They’re known for Zumba, which I love, but have other interesting options too such as Piloxing, Booty Camp and more.  Check them out this Sunday in particular, when they’ll host a special “Girls Just Want To Have Fun Class,” featuring moves to the fabulous sounds of female artists such as Lady Gaga, Madonna, Cyndi Lauper and others.  Bring your girlfriends with ya and bust a move.  Simply Fit Astoria (25-06 31st Street, Astoria.  347.639.0489)

This Sunday, don’t forget about Queens Swap, a local food swap event that happens between our borough’s talented food enthusiasts and artisans, this time hosted at Sweet Afton Bar.  I always manage to have a great time and get some fantastic goodies to stock my pantry with – just take a look at the loot I scored in December (see above).  We’re starting at 4 p.m. and will go on until about 6:30 p.m. so bring some yummies to trade.  It’s all free – all you need to do is RSVP.  Queens Swap at Sweet Afton (30-09 34th Street, Astoria.  718.777.2570)

Are you a boxing fan? Believe it or not, I am and was totally excited to see that MOMI is screening a documentary about the Klitschko brothers this Sunday at 4 p.m.  The film focuses on the fascinating story of the brothers from Ukraine, how they’ve come to claim fame in the boxing world and what they’ll tackle next.  Free with museum admission.  Museum of the Moving Image (36-01 35th Avenue, Astoria.  718.777.6888)

Before or after the movie, take a walk over to Mackenzi’s lovely boutique, SITE.  I’ve been salivating over the cool items she’s been getting into the store each week.  Where else could you get a yarn cone vase, preppy tech tools, and my personal favorite, these lovely little Macaron boxes?  SITE (35-11 34th Avenue, Astoria.  718.626.6030)
