Today’s FF is all about my absolutely favorite thing to report here at WHA- NEW!!! I love seeing fresh, positive additions to the neighborhood. So, here’s some of the most recent additions to Astoria- both real and rumored.
Treats and Tips (45-15 34th Ave., Astoria)
Without much fanfare at all, a new boutique pet shop opened on 34th Ave. in the past month! Treats and Tips has a variety of dog and cat supplies such as organic and grain free food, treats, leashes, collars, toys, housebreaking aids and more. Looks like they have a full service dog groomer and ‘dog whisperer’ on staff, too.
Thymari Greek Cuisine (32-07 34th Ave., Astoria)
The newest Greek restaurant to open in our sea of Mediterranean options, Thymari sits in the old Philoxenia spot on 34th ave. Chef Comas Bisticas puts a modern twist on more classic dishes like stuffed grape leaves, striped sea bass and more. Fun fact, we hear Bisticas was a contestant on the Greek Top Chef.
BabyNoir (26-16 23rd ave., Astoria)
What once was Creator’s Co-op is now the kid and baby friendly BabyNoir. Join them on February 11th, from 1pm-4pm for their big grand opening party. A free gift with purchase, music, FREE face painting, and complimentary hot apple cider will be served. Also be on the lookout for their classes for both adults and kids.
Donato’s Italian Bistro (34-02 Broadway, Astoria)
Looks like the kinda weird Cherry Cafe that was at Broadway and 35th has finally gone out of business. Could this new tenant, Donato’s be the same as this Woodside establishment?
Dominie’s Hoek (30th Ave. at 35th St.?)
This one is all rumors, kids. I’ve recently heard that LIC staple Dominie’s Hoek is expanding to Astoria. Based on the matching storefronts, I’d bet this gossip has some truth to it.
What Astoria gossip have you been hearing? Anything new and exciting going on near you?

The Hoek is real. It’s gonna be called Dominie’s (no Hoek). Opening Valentine’s Day.
Yeah! Thanks for the heads up- you were my original source
I can’t wait to sample the menu at Thymari Greek Cuisine. I hope that with the talent behind the restaurant, there will be a lot of great dishes to go for.
