It’s all anyone can talk about. It is hot, hot, hot out there. Here’s five cool things to do around town this weekend:

1. Check out the Jim Henson Exhibit at the Museum of the Moving Image.

Join your friends Ernie, Miss Piggy, Kermit and more at this fantastic local exhibit gem! Why you should go now:

Jim Henson’s Fantastic World celebrates the internationally known creative genius Jim Henson, whose work encompassed film, television, and puppetry. The exhibition features over 120 artifacts, including drawings, storyboards, and props, all of which illustrate Henson’s boundless creativity and innumerable accomplishments.

2. Check out the Q77 Trunk Show at Kristees on Saturday.

Cool off at Kristee’s Saturday event from 4-8 pm and take in an assortment of  Q77’s summer tees & dresses inspired by her experience from living in the hood. Catch a glimpse of Christina’s original art work also on display which she translates onto all of her  fashionably chic and comfy summer items. In addition, new fans will receive 15% off their Q77 purchase at the event. Tasty peach bellinis will also be served. Yum!

3. Drink margaritas!

This weather was made for tangy, sweet and sour, perhaps a wee bit salty tequila drinks! Have a classic margarita at Mojave, a spicy cherry one at Sweet Afton or hibiscus one at Pachanga Patterson. Any way you go, you won’t be sorry. In fact, have two. You know you want to. (Ps! Make a Pachanga Hibiscus Margarita at home. Recipie here.)

4. Say Goodbye to Your Favorite Wizards.

Haven’t seen Harry Potter yet? This is the weekend to do it. Cool off in the icy Kaufman Astoria Theater, grab some overpriced popcorn, a soda and you’re ready for two hours of air-conditioned bliss. Wizards and muggles not your thing? Check out what else is playing at this 14 screen theater.

5. Stock Up On Fruit and Veggies.

Head out early Saturday to Socrates Sculpture Park’s Greenmarket and get all the goodies you need to make smoothies, salads or other cool summer foods. Nothing says summer quite like a farmer’s market. Runs every Saturday from 8am-4pm. (32-01 Vernon Blvd. LIC)

The Jim Henson exhibit looks like a blast! Great place to bring the kids this weekend. The margaritas will be for the parents afterwards!
