Rain? Sun? Hot? Cold? It seems these days we can never be sure exactly what we’re getting out of this crazy Spring. One certainty though, there’s more than ever to do here in Astoria. This weekend is no exception!

Kick things off at WHA favorite Rest-Au-Rant tonight with a little live American roots music by D.B. Rielly. Enjoy some of RAR’s new food offerings, beer and cheese pairings, or just a classic cocktail. Music starts at 9pm. (Rest-Au-Rant, 30-01 35th Ave. Astoria)

This weekend seems to be the unofficial start to cafe season! 5 Napkin Burger (35-01 36th St, Astoria) is opening their 60 seat outdoor patio up and offering great deals to match! Get a great happy hour price (through May 5th) on delicious $2 sliders (turkey, veggie & original 5 Napkin Burger), $.25 Hell’s Kitchen Wings, $1 Pork Tacquitos and to top it off…$4 drafts! It seems newbie Pachanga Patterson (33-17 31st Ave., Astoria) also has their outdoor space ready to go, as does burger mecca Bare Burger (33-21 31st Ave., Astoria)! Perfect for brunch, lunch, or whatever the day calls for. {WHA Tip- We also hear through the grapevine that Pachanga has been secretly serving up tasty weekend brunch! No official word yet, though.}

Friday Astoria Wine & Spirits (34-12 Broadway, Astoria) is having a vodka tasting. Martinis more your thing? Don’t miss this opportunity to taste some fantastic vodkas, perfect for at home cocktail making. Not your thing? Don’t forget about our 5 favorite cocktails in Astoria, Friday night is the just right night for a happy hour drink with friends.

Saturday is the ninth annual Kite Flight at the Socrates Sculpture Park! More info:

Socrates Sculpture Park and The Noguchi Museum are pleased to present the ninth annual Kite Flight, a special workshop for children to build and decorate kites out of recycled materials, and then fly them in the Park! This FREE hands-on workshop will take place at Socrates Sculpture Park and all supplies will be provided. Advance registration is not required, but space is limited, so come early!

Kite Flight participants will get an early glimpse of Socrates Sculpture Park’s spring exhibition, Vista, opening Sunday, May 8, 2011. This exhibition will feature artists creating work that deals with visual alignment and the ways in which methods of viewing determine the assessment or evaluation of an object or situation.

In the afternoon,  Simply Fit Astoria brings a new way to workout to Astoria. The result is an unprecedented practice which is empowering physically and mentally. All participants must register in advance, prices vary. (Simply Fit Astoria. (347) 639-0489. 25-06 31st Street)

Bring those leftover paperwhites, Easter lilies and daffodils you got for Easter/Passover/Greek Easter to the Astoria Park Butterfly Garden this Saturday from 10 – 3pm and plant them in the park! A great way to reuse the plants and make our neighborhood just a little prettier.

Sunday from 7am-2pm the Five Boro Bike Tour comes through Astoria! Cheer on the participants in Astoria Park or just snap a few pictures of the bicyclists. Click here for the full route.

If Saturday’s brunch options weren’t enough, looks like brunch is back at Winegasam starting this Sunday as well! Nosh on updated brunch classics for just $10 and try their signature wine pairings/flights. Stop in from noon-4pm. (31-86 37th St., Astoria)

Spice up things with Ethereal’s Day of Glamor, a party to celebrate the launch of their new vintage lingerie line! Sip on mimosas, have a complementary bra fitting, and enjoy a mini spa treatment from WHA favorite, Rejuvenate. Things kick off at 2 and go until 5. (Ethereal, 47-38 Vernon Blvd., LIC)
