After some much needed rain, we have a mostly sunny weekend ahead. And that means, enjoying the outside and all the fun happs that Astoria and LIC offers. Such as…

If you haven’t done so already, tomorrow is the deadline for signing up for the new Vesta/Brooklyn Grange CSA.  It’s being offered for 15 weeks, starting this Saturday.  The pick-ups will be at the wonderful Vesta Vino, so stop in between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to pick up your veggies and get some delicious brunch while you’re at it.  To join this new CSA, contact the Brooklyn Grange Farm.

Feel like getting a workout in before you start your weekend? Check out a great (and free) exercise class at the Socrates Sculpture Park, which features 2 yoga sessions (one at 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. and the other one from 11:00a.m. – noon) or Capoeira, which is a super challenging Brazilian Martial Arts class from 12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. 32-01 Vernon Blvd, Long Island City. 718.956.1819

P.S.1’s legendary Warm Ups are back for the summer. For those of you who aren’t familiar with them, just think of a giant outdoor dance party with a couple of hundred guests, rocking out to some fantastic beats.  It’s a great way to let loose, have fun and meet new people.  Saturday’s line-up includes Air France, Ratatat, ARP and Justin Miller.  The party starts at 2:00 p.m. and lasts through 9:00 p.m. 22-25 Jackson Avenue, LIC. 718.784.2084

Support a car free Water Walk at Shore Blvd by coming out this Sunday to Astoria Park and learning more about this cause.  You’ll enjoy food and drinks as well as meet some *special* guests, including the world’s smallest breed of Serama chickens. The celebration starts at 4:00 p.m. so come out and support a worthy cause. Donations are welcome.  You can learn more and RSVP on their Facebook page.

Not in the mood to cook this weekend? Indulge in some scrumptious take-out from one of our favorites, Balkh Shish Kabab House.  This authentic Afghan restaurant is one of the most underrated gems in Astoria.  You can get excellent kabab platters with rice and carrot/raisin salad, pumpkin turnovers, delicious baklava and all your other Middle Eastern favorites.  Prices are really competitive and the portions are super generous.  23-10 31st Street, Astoria. 718.721.5020
