One of the best things about Astoria is the abundant food choices available to us. Here’s some of the best places to get something to eat without spending a ton or resorting to the dreaded Chinese takeout.

Pita Hot (2515 30th Avenue)
A long time Astoria standard, this emporium of Middle Eastern delights has something for everyone. Their generously sized swarma or falafel platters make a tasty dinner, and their spinach pies will make you weak in the knees. Pita Hot stays open late, too!
Rizzos (3013 Steinway St.)
The king of Astoria pizzerias since 1959 (!), Rizzos never disappoints. Try a slice with their homemade Ceasar Salads, made with garlic knot croutons. The calzone and strombolis are worth checking out as well.

The King Of Falafel
The King of Falafel is the reiging king of ’street meat.’ This tiny food cart, parked near C-Town Supermarket serves up superior (and halal) shawarma, kabobs of every variety, chicken platters, falafel, and much more! If superior food isn’t enough, the cart’s owner is happy to entertain customers while their food cooks. Oh, and it’s not everyday that a food cart has a full website!

La Papa
The latest creation from the owner’s of Mundo, La Papa serves up tasty, healthy, and cheap loaded baked potatoes they call “Kumpir,” a Turkish style potato. Choose from one of their house creations or make your own (at no added cost!). Potatoes not your thing? Try their tasty homemade soups, make your own salads, or their yummy Turkish grilled cheese paninis.
Who serves up your favorite cheap eats in Astoria??
