Welcome to Friday! I’m so glad the weather is going to warm up – stick a fork in me, I am DONE with these chilly temps. So, for this Finally Fridays I am going to share with you five of my favorite treat eats in Astoria. Enjoy!
The sicilian slice at Rose & Joes. So, so good. If you peer into the bakery from the street, you probably wouldn’t know about the pizza counter. Head to the back of the bakery to get your slice (and pay at that counter). There are other pizzas there, too, all very good. But my fave is the simple cheese slice. The Warm Bankie, my favorite brunch item at Vesta! I have ordered numerous times and it’s always good – polenta, asparagus, eggs, truffle oil. I find it filling as well. Truly a delicious brunch treat. Vesta Trattoria, 21-02 30th Avenue, Astoria. 718-545-5550
I had this dish – Chicken with Chili and Basil – at Arharn Thai and was blown away by it. So much flavor! Spicy but not painfully so. Really excellent Thai food can be had at Arharn. Arharn Thai, 32-05 36th Avenu, Astoria. 718-728-5563
Ah, BZ Grill fries – so addictive. They are unlike other fries I’ve had in town – they are more savory and have a special kind of crispiness to them. Tasty. BZ Grill, 27-02 Astoria Blvd, Astoria. 718-932-7858
Finally, the Completo, the magical, wonderful Chilean style hot dog. Topped with onions, tomato, avocado and mayo, it is a sight to behold. All the flavors combine into something amazing. The bun is homemade, too. San Antonio Bakery #2, 36-20 Astoria Boulevard Astoria. 718-777-8733
