As I looked in the mirror last night at my crazy hair, I concluded that I need a haircut sooner than later.

I thought back to my last haircut in January, which was such a nice experience – I got a really great cut that has grown out beautifully.  I usually go elsewhere, but I was invited by Adriana at Natura Spa to come by and check them out, and try some of their services.  I scheduled a haircut with Jason and a massage with Marina.

Jason is originally from Brazil and has 15 years of experience cutting and styling hair.  He gave me an amazing cut – stylish and uncomplicated and easy to maintain.  I felt very comfortable with him, and there was no pressure to engage in conversation if I didn’t want to.  However, we had some nice conversations about Brazil mostly, which were really interesting.

After I got my hair done, I waited a spell for Marina to become available for my massage.  It was very relaxing, and she got out some of the tension and stress I was holding in my back.  I think I’ll need a couple of sessions next time, though, as the change of seasons can be hard on the body.  I enjoyed the soft music and the comfortable atmosphere during my massage – it was only 30 minutes, but for some reason time decided to warp and I felt like I’d been in there a whole hour!  Not a bad thing in my book.

Natura Spa is an Aveda salon, and you can buy a plethora of Aveda products there, from shampoo to styling mud to sun protection.  It is the widest selection of Aveda products outside of an Aveda store that I’ve ever seen.  Behold:

They also provide a full roster of treatments, from mani/pedi, to facials, to waxing, and more.  Additionally, they have a little clothing boutique in the store!

To make an appointment, you can give them a call… or, you can schedule it online!  I used that method and I thought it was just great.   They send you a reminder email a day or so before your appointment, too.  So convenient.

So, if you are considering trying a new place to get your hair cut, you might consider Natura Spa.  It’s located near the Steinway Street R stop, and is about a 10 minute walk from the N/W.  If you do try them, we’d love to know how your experience was!  Perhaps I’ll see you there…

What a wonderful and professional space. I have been there several times for my natural keratin and the process is amazing. It lasts, its not damaging in any way and the plant based formula is the best that I’ve had to-date. Thank you!!!
